CALABASAS, Calif., Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Alliant Techsystems Inc. has contracted a California testing and engineering company for support of its operations at a U.S. Army ammunition plant.

Under the contract, Unitek Technical Systems will provide supply chain management services, including source inspections and supplier audits, to help maintain quality standards at the Radford Ammunitions Plant in Virginia.

The contract is for one year and has a value of $500,000.

"We are very pleased to expand our relationship with ATK at the Radford facility," said William C. McGinnis, chief executive officer of Unitek's parent company, National Technical Systems. "Since bringing on Unitek two years ago, we have created a broader range of solutions for our clients. For ATK, that means adding supply chain services to our testing labs and engineering capabilities."

NTS said the supply chain management contract to Unitek highlights the NTS strategy of diversifying its services through mergers and acquisitions.

"This contract is evidence that our supply chain management services are gaining traction in our various target markets and we see greater demand in 2012 and beyond," Kevin Beard, president of NTS Supply Chain Services, said.
