SAIC to support Army simulation program

MCLEAN, Va., Dec. 15 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army aims to improve and link its simulation training programs and has contracted SAIC of Virginia to help with the process.

Under a contract to support the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation, Science Applications International Corp. will provide virtual components to develop and sustain the Army's Common Virtual Environment for simulation and training programs.

The set of components, called SE Core, will enable a broad range of virtual products for combined arms and joint training and mission planning and rehearsals.

Included will be operational training terrain databases, models, simulation architecture connectivity and gaming interfaces.

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a one-year base performance period and four one-year options. It value is as much as $222 million if all options are exercised.
