ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Virginia security training and services company Xe Services LLC has changed its name to Academi, parent company USTC Holdings LLC announced.

"We have had a year of extraordinary changes that have resulted in a new, better company," Academi President and Chief Executive Officer Ted Wright said. "The Academi name communicates both our legacy and where we are going as a company in the future.

"This is more than a simple name change. Rather, it is a reflection of the changes we have made while retaining those elements that made us who we are today -- the best in our industry."

USTC holdings, an investor consortium, acquired Xe Services, which was previously known as Blackwater USA, and subsidiary U.S. Training Center Inc., last December and formed a new board of directors to set strategic growth and operational direction.

The company focus is on domestic and international training and services related to counter-terrorism, force protection, law enforcement and security operations. Among its clients are the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of State and various law enforcement agencies.
