Navy contracts for counter-IED systems

FREDERICKSBURG, Va., Oct. 14 (UPI) -- EOIR Technologies Inc. has won a $44.9 million task order under the U.S. Navy's SeaPort-e contract for counter-IED systems and operations.

The services will be provided to the Directed Energy Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division.

In addition to development, testing and implementation of CIED systems and operations, the task order also provides for the deployment and sustainment of directed energy systems and capabilities in support of current and future military operations.

EOIR has supported the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps in the National Capital are through the SeaPort-e contract since May 2005. As a prime contractor on this effort, EOIR brings 30 years of experience in DOD science and engineering research and development, including a large system integration effort for the NSWCDD.

"EOIR's expertise in systems integration and development, combined with our long history of deploying technologies to warfighters in the field, allows us to meet and exceed the Navy's expectations," said Joe Mackin, president and chief executive officer of EOIR.
