MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 12 (UPI) -- SAIC has received a task order from U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic for engineering and support work.

Under the task order, Science Applications International Corp. will provide support for the Veterans Affairs Benefits Integrated Product Team, Chapter 33 long-term solution.

The contract has a one-year base period of performance, two one-year options, and a total value of more than $24 million if both options are exercised.

The task order was awarded under the U.S. Army's Information Technology Enterprise Solutions 2 Services contract.

The VA Benefits IPT helps provide veterans the benefits and services they have earned through military service. Under the contract, SAIC will provide technical and engineering support, as well as application development and operational services required to develop, manage and enhance new functionalities for VA benefit systems, including Chapter 33 LTS.

SAIC will help manage systems engineering and program development processes in accordance with industry best practices.

"We look forward to continuing our support of these critical VA systems, helping increase automation and enhance technical service-oriented capabilities, which will ultimately streamline delivery of Chapter 33 benefits to veterans and their families," said Jim Thigpen, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager.
