LONDON, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- A U.S.-British joint venture company supporting explosive ordnance disposal and counter-IED operations was officially launched this week.

ATOM Training, announced in London at the 2011 Defense and Security Equipment International exhibition, is based in the Washington area. The new company is a partnership between A-T Solutions Inc. of the United States and Alford Technologies, a British company that is the market leader in developing highly innovative explosives applications.

"Our EOD C-IED defeat and search experts work with instructional designers and curriculum developers to produce courses tailored specifically to client requirements," said Roland Alford, managing director of Alford Technologies.

"We are dedicated to delivering a full life cycle of bespoke and adaptive training to our customers, especially in light of all the urgent and evolving threats against our world."

ATOM Training designs and develops an evolving and comprehensive suite of innovative EOD counter-terrorism training solutions. A-T Solutions' and Alford Technologies' collaborative subject matter expertise was derived from real-world operational experience and proven instructional competencies.

"We are excited to be launching this global expansion of our C-IED training capabilities," said Dennis Kelly, president and chief executive officer of A-T Solutions. "Both A-T Solutions and Alford Technologies share a passion for detecting, defeating and mitigating any threats of terrorism."
