SINGAPORE, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- ST Kinetics of Singapore has won a $54.6 million contract from Singapore's Defense Ministry for its Spider light strike vehicles and spares.
Deliveries are expected to take place in 2013 and 2014. The number of vehicles wasn't disclosed.
Designed with a unique center drive configuration allowing for weapon systems to be mounted on both sides of the driver, the Spider LSV incorporates a state-of-the-art electronic controlled engine, a 4-speed automatic transmission and an enhanced suspension system capable of high cross-country maneuverability.
The Spider LSV has an increased seating capacity for a crew of six and is helicopter-portable.
"We are extremely pleased that (the Ministry of Defense) has selected the Spider LSV," said ST Kinetics President SEW Chee Jhuen. "This is an excellent testimony to ST Kinetics' continued focus to innovate through smart engineering, effective solutions to meet our customers' evolving operational needs."
