George W. Bush to speak on counter-terrorism

NEW YORK, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- A new counter-terrorism summit will debut in New York next month and will feature former U.S. President George W. Bush as keynote speaker.

The Concordia Summit, a non-profit organization that seeks to develop private/public partnerships around pressing global issues, said other speakers at the event include former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe and Sept. 11 Commission Chairman Thomas Kean.

The conference will be hosted by Concordia's founders and advisory board, including former U.S. homeland security adviser Frances Townsend, veteran U.S. diplomat John Negroponte, former Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga, HRH Prince Aziz bin Talal al Saud and former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand Suwat Liptapanlop.

The Libra Group and global innovation firm Synecticsworld are serving as corporate partners, Concordia said.

Concordia said the event will take place Sept. 20 in New York.
