MCLEAN, Va., July 21 (UPI) -- The U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division has given SAIC a prime contract to provide advanced engineering and technical services.
The work, worth $36 million if all options are exercised, is in support of the U.S. Navy Ship Signatures Directorate and signature silencing programs.
The single-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a 1-year base period of performance and two 1-year options.
NSWC Carderock's Ship Signatures Department is responsible for the development of signature reduction technology to support Navy surface ship and submarine program goals. It also operates and maintains major acoustic research and development facilities.
Under the contract, SAIC will provide advanced engineering and technical services, including system development support for software and hardware systems; installation, validation and operation of measurement systems; and strategic planning in support of signature measurement systems for naval ships and undersea systems at its acoustic measurement facilities.

"We are pleased to continue our support of these mission-critical tasks, providing the specialized engineering that is helping advance U.S. leadership in undersea technology and testing."
