MCLEAN, Va., May 19 (UPI) -- SAIC said it will continue providing advanced modeling and simulation training service solutions to the U.S. Army Forces Command under a follow-on contract.

The multiple-award is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract and has a performance period of a one base year and four one-year option periods. The total contract ceiling value is $2.5 billion.

Virginia-based Scientific Science Applications International Corp. and more than three dozen other contractors will compete for task orders under the contract .

"We look forward to continuing to work with the U.S. Army Forces Command to provide the Department of Defense with innovative, integrated support services and leading-edge technologies that facilitate transformation and help prepare units and soldiers for deployment," said Beverly Seay, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager.

FORSCOM trains, mobilizes, deploys, sustains, transforms and reconstitutes conventional forces, providing land power to combatant commanders worldwide.

Under the contract, the SAIC team will continue to provide modeling and simulation and training services and solutions to FORSCOM units and soldiers preparing to deploy. These services and solutions will be similar to the I Corps Battle Command Training Center and the Maneuver Center of Excellence Battle Lab, which SAIC provided under the predecessor contract, OPTARSS I.

SAIC will also provide support services in areas including operational planning, training, modeling and simulation, flight operations, mobilization plans and execution, deployment operations, force protection and transformation.
