TBI is a significant public health problem representing a potentially catastrophic and debilitating medical emergency and a major concern for the U.S. military. Many of the suspected brain injuries are undiagnosed at the time of injury and can result in impairment of combat and duty performance. In addition, profound and persistent impairment of physical, cognitive and psychosocial functioning can occur.

NeuroStudies said Florida's Banyan Biomarkers has initiated a protocol that Dr. Marshall L. Nash, chief executive officer of NeuroStudies.net is conducting in the general population for those who experience a traumatic brain injury and arrive at the emergency department within four hours of injury onset.

NeuroStudies.net is one of 10 sites selected internationally to participate in the trial.

NeuroStudies said it is currently enrolling patients in the study.

Additional details on the project weren't disclosed.
