AgustaWestland opening training center

FARNBOROUGH, England, March 9 (UPI) -- AgustaWestland is building a center in Southwest England for British army and navy aircrews and mountainous personnel for Lynx Wildcat helicopters.

The training center is part of a contract with Britain's Ministry of Defense to design and develop an integrated training solution for the AW159 Lynx Wildcat.

AgustaWestland said the center will open in January 2013.

"This contract represents a step change in the way AgustaWestland is partnering with the (Ministry of Defense) to deliver world-class training for front line crews, whilst ensuring we provide value for money within every part of the service," John Ponsonby, AgustaWestland's senior vice president of training said.

"This contract underlines AgustaWestland's commitment to provide the highest quality of training to Lynx Wildcat aircrew and maintainers, thereby ensuring the front line units are fully prepared for whatever missions they may be asked to undertake."

The Wildcat Training Center will be with a wide range of synthetic training technology, including two Full Mission Simulators, Flight Training Device and Cockpit Procedures Trainer.
