Oshkosh leverages Canada subsidiary

OSHKOSH, Wis., Feb. 16 (UPI) -- U.S. vehicle manufacturer Oshkosh Defense plans to leverage a Canadian subsidiary's facility for work on Canadian military vehicle programs.

London Machinery Inc., which makes concrete mixer trucks, has the skilled workforce and capabilities to support work by an Oshkosh Defense and General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada team on the country's tactical armored patrol vehicle and Medium Support Vehicle System programs, it said.

"Our team has thoughtfully reviewed draft RFPs (requests for proposals) for the TAPV and MSVS programs and we are aligning our operations to DND (Department of National Defense) requirements for highly protected vehicles and long-term maintenance and support for the vehicles," said Andy Hove, Oshkosh Corp. executive vice president and president, Oshkosh Defense.

"Our plans will deliver significant value to DND by leveraging proven technology and support capabilities while providing industrial and regional benefits to contribute to the Canadian economy."

Oshkosh and General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada teamed for the TAPV program, which will replace the Canadian military's Armored Patrol Vehicle and Coyote reconnaissance vehicles. The companies also are teamed up for the MSVS program, which will replace the medium Logistics Vehicles, Wheeled fleet.
