Teen solves centuries-old math problem
FARMINGDALE, N.Y., Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Telephonics Corp. of New York is providing mobile surveillance systems to U.S. Customs and Border Protection for use along the U.S.-Mexico border.
The Mobile Surveillance System utilizes the company's ground surveillance radar with day and night cameras, laser range-finder and laser pointer to provide a fused surveillance picture for the border patrol agents.
The contract, which includes support services, is a firm fixed-price award worth $12.8 million in the base year. If our option years are exercised the estimated incremental value would be more than $45 million.
"We look forward to supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection by enhancing the agents' ability to perform their vital mission," said Donald C. Pastor, Electronic Systems Division president. "This latest tool is a significant improvement on Telephonics' successful Mobile Surveillance System, of which 34 systems are currently deployed on the U.S.-Mexican Border by CBP."
Telephonics is a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon Corp. Its high-technology engineering and manufacturing capabilities provide integrated information, communication and sensor system solutions to military and commercial markets worldwide.
