Harris gets State Dept. option award

WASHINGTON, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Harris Corp. has been awarded a $40 million option on a U.S. Department of State Consular Affairs information technology services support contract.

The one-year option award is the first under CASS, originally awarded in September 2009 as a one-year base contract with four option years. The option takes the overall current value of the contract to an estimated $76 million, with a potential $196.5 million value if further options are exercised.

Under the CASS contract, the Harris team is providing IT installation, training and operational services to the State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs to support the bureau's delivery of critical services to U.S. citizens domestically and overseas and to facilitate travel to the United States by foreign nationals.

Harris IT services include shipping and installing equipment and applications; on-site system administration and repair; training; technology upgrades; and help desk support to over 270 domestic and international consular operations.

"Harris has been providing IT support to the Bureau of Consular Affairs for 15 years," said Wayne Lucernoni, vice president, Intel and Civil Programs, Harris IT Services. "The award of this option year demonstrates Harris' commitment to excellence in, supporting the Department of State's mission."

The Harris team includes CGI Group, Inc.; Apptis, Inc.; System Sciences Corp. International; Access Systems, Inc.; Acuity, Inc.; Array Information Technology, Inc.; Electronic Consulting Services, Inc.; and TJ Westlake LLC.
