BALLSTON LAKE, N.Y., Sept. 9 (UPI) -- New York's Sixnet and A.E. Petsche have won an $18 million U.S. Army contract for digital backbone kits for high-performance networking.

The contract is part of WestWind Technologies Inc.'s agreement to supply Digital Backbone Kits to the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive Life Cycle Management Command for the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle program.

WestWind will provide the Command, Control, Communications and Computer, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Digital Backbone Kits in production quantities for integration into thousands of Army vehicles.

Each of these kits will utilize Sixnet's IP67 Ethernet switches.

"The selection of our rugged IP67 switches for TACOM's Digital Backbone Kits helps further validate Sixnet as a leading industrial connectivity provider," said Scott Killian, director of connectivity solutions for Sixnet. "With over 5,000 Sixnet switches delivered on the Stryker, a General Dynamics' Land Systems vehicle, we are pleased our solution is being used as part of another platform that will enhance the capabilities of our nation's troops."

Product distributor A.E. Petsche Co., Inc. has headquarters in Texas and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Arrow Electronics, Inc.
