CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has given Rockwell Collins a 4-year contract for its Hawkeye Integrated Training System-Maintenance program.

Under the terms of the award, Rockwell Collins will be the prime contractor in designing and developing the first integrated maintenance training systems on the E-2D platform.

Prior to this contract, Rockwell Collins was awarded the E-2D HITS-A (Aircrew) contract and has performed and delivered the E-2C Weapon System Trainer and Simulated Maintenance Trainer.

"With the award of the E-2D HITS-M contract, Rockwell Collins continues to be positioned as the premier provider for Hawkeye training solutions," said Ken Schreder, vice president and general manager of Simulation & Training Solutions for Rockwell Collins. "Our integrated training solutions will be used to provide maintenance technicians with the latest blended training capabilities, consisting of classroom instruction, PC-based and physical device trainers."

The HITS-M solution is comprised of curriculum developed following Instructional Systems Design principles; learning objectives traceable to the master training task list; instructor-led training and computer aided instruction; and interactive courseware as well as simulated maintenance trainer, PC simulation and contract logistics support.
