LONDON, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Northrop Grumman's European subsidiary is to Upgrade Air Traffic Communication Infrastructure for the Incheon Control Center in South Korea.
The value of the contract from South Korea's Public Procurement Service wasn't disclosed.
Northrop said its Park Air Systems will upgrade existing communications infrastructure and will include recording equipment and a remote control and monitoring system to allow centralized awareness of the equipment performance and availability.
Radio subsystems will be located at six sites across South Korea with centralized control and management at Incheon, it said.
System architecture will be based around Northrop Grumman Park Air System's T6 range of VHF and UHF air traffic control radio equipment.
"We are pleased to have been awarded this contract to upgrade the existing infrastructure," said Charles Houseago, managing director of Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems in the United Kingdom. "This award builds on our well-established presence in South Korea and we look forward to working again with the Korean air traffic control authorities."
The contract is expected to be completed at the end of 2012 and follows earlier contracts for the supply of air traffic control systems across South Korea.
