ST. LOUIS, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- LaBarge Inc. of St. Louis has been awarded a $5 million contract to produce wiring harnesses for Black Hawk helicopters.
Production on the contract from Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. is expected to continue through the end of 2014 the company said.
The Black Hawk helicopter is the U.S. Army's primary utility tactical transport helicopter, capable of a variety of missions from combat assault and peacekeeping to disaster relief and medical evacuation.
LaBarge Inc. said the contract is for wiring harnesses for the HH-60M Medevac helicopter, which affords modern emergency medical care from the patient's injury site while en route to a distant hospital.
The company said production work would take place at its facility in Berryville, Ark.
LaBarge, an electronics manufacturer, said its high-reliability hardware and systems support critical functions where durability and peak performance are vital, including military aircraft, radar systems and satellite launch vehicles, such as the Atlas V.
