VIENNA, Va., Aug. 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has chosen Virginia's Criterion Systems to participate in its SeaPort Enhanced prime contract.

The SeaPort-e contract, which has a 4-year base period, is an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity award established to facilitate a Navy-wide electronic procurement process.

The government estimates that about $5.3 billion in services will be procured per year via orders issued under the program.

"Criterion Systems has a history of delivering the innovative technical solutions our nation's military forces require to maintain their competitive edge," said Promod Sharma, president and chief executive officer of Criterion. "With our new prime contract vehicle, we can leverage our successful track record to expand our footprint within the U.S. Navy.

"Our executive team has a long history of supporting our forces, first as military officers, and now leading the Criterion teams providing services and solutions to the armed forces."

Criterion's said its solutions and services for the Navy and other customers range from cybersecurity, to software engineering, to test and evaluation, to providing high performance systems for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance fusion platforms.
