New order placed for fingerprint system

WALL, N.J., Aug. 6 (UPI) -- BIO-key International Inc. has announced a new contract for a fingerprint biometric identity solution built on the fusion of BIO-key and MorphoTrak algorithms.

New Jersey-based Bio-Key and MorphoTrak, headquartered in Virginia, said in a joint news release that the award for large-scale finger matching technology came from an overseas customer. The identity of the customer and additional contract details, however, were not disclosed.

The first contract for the fused biometric product was awarded last September by Lockheed Martin to MorphoTrak to provide fingerprint identification technology for the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation's Next Generation Identification system.

"The selection of BIO-key technology for another large-scale fingerprint identity system is further validation of BIO-key's position as one of the premier suppliers of the industry's most accurate and scalable fingerprint matching technology," said Mike DePasquale, BIO-key's chief executive officer.

Added MorphoTrak Chief Executive Officer Daniel Vassy: "We are very pleased to once again have an opportunity to deploy this fused fingerprint biometric ID solution to meet the needs for a large-scale identity program. This additional contract enhances our position as the leading provider of fingerprint identification systems, supplying law enforcement and civil identification systems to numerous local and Federal government agencies worldwide."
