BAE selects new VP and general council

ARLINGTON, Va., June 9 (UPI) -- U.S. defense company BAE Systems Inc. has selected a government contracts and corporate legal expert as its new senior vice president and general counsel.

BAE Systems President and Chief Executive Officer Linda Hudson announced the company has named Ian Graham to take over as senior vice president and general counsel for Sheila Cheston who is leaving the company.

Graham was selected after serving as vice president and deputy general counsel. Hudson said Graham comes to the appointment after nearly two decades of government contracts and corporate legal experience.

"He fully understands the legal requirements of our business and our industry and shares my commitment to ensuring the highest standards of performance that will help our customers meet their evolving requirements," Hudson said in a statement.

Officials say Graham will begin his new role effective immediately and will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters at BAE Systems among other requirements.
