LONDON, June 4 (UPI) -- British defense company Babcock has selected Newton to provide its production management solutions to support a British military tactical vehicle program.

Newton announced it will provide its trademarked Pulse Production Management System that company officials say will be integrated with Babcock's tactical vehicle manufacturing to reduce production time and optimize output.

"Newton's Pulse Production Management System was specifically adapted for Babcock's current and future build contracts, helping to control variation in cost, quality and the delivery of vehicles," Kevin Jones, a director at Newton said in a statement.

Newton says its Pulse system will be used at Babcock's Devonport Dockyard facility in England and will support the company's contract with the British Defense Ministry for tactical vehicles used in combat theaters.

The Newton selection was additionally part of an initiative by Babcock to support the British military's Urgent Operational Requirement addressing equipment needs in Afghanistan.
