NEWARK, N.Y., June 3 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Department has contracted Ultralife Corp. to deliver its rechargeable battery technologies to provide soldiers with mobile power solutions.
New York's Ultralife says it was selected to provide its lithium ion rechargeable batteries as part of its family of SmartCircuit technologies in support of the U.S. military's Land Warrior program.
The follow-on Land Warrior product suite contract, which also includes deliveries of the company's battery charger systems, is for approximately $2.5 million.
Ultralife President and Chief Executive Officer John Kavazanjian said the new battery and chargers order demonstrates the growing importance of the company's family of man-portable power solutions for the defense market.
"As expected, the U.S. military has rolled out the Land Warrior program again this year," Kavazanjian said.
The Land Warrior product suite is designed to strength an individual soldier's close combat tactical capabilities.
