WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 12 (UPI) -- Cyalume Technologies Inc. announced it joined with General Dynamics to support U.S. military ammunition requirements.

Defense contractor General Dynamics says its Ordnance and Tactical Systems unit has entered into an agreement with U.S. company Cyalume to jointly develop more environmentally friendly technology to support training ammunition requirements.

As part of the strategic partnership, Cyalume will provide its chemiluminescent combined with General Dynamics' ammunition for a next-generation green training ammunition for use with multiple platforms.

"The military has expressed an increased need for advanced training, marking and illumination payloads," Michael Wilson, General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, president said in a statement.

"Over the past several years, Cyalume Technologies has developed numerous advanced materials that, when loaded into our ammunition will enhance training and provide a tactical advantage for our soldiers."
