BAE receives orders for Archer gun systems

KARLSKOGA, Sweden, April 5 (UPI) -- BAE Systems has been selected to provide defense authorities in Sweden and Norway with automated artillery gun technologies.

British defense company BAE announced it received contracts to provide the armed forces of both Sweden and Norway with its Archer 155mm self-propelled artillery guns.

The approximately $206.5 in production contracts, which includes the Archer ammunition handling systems, is for delivery of 48 of BAE's Archer systems designed to provide military units with digital a fire control system and automatic gun-laying capabilities.

"Archer is an important program for the armed forces of both countries and for BAE Systems' land business, as it is in a core area for us and will provide a springboard for future exports," Mike Smith, BAE Systems Global Combat Systems Weapons managing director, said in a statement.
