HEBRON, Ohio, March 18 (UPI) -- NATO defense authorities selected Ohio's ArmorSource to deliver ballistic helmets designed to provide next-generation lightweight protection.
ArmorSource received the contract from the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency to supply 110,000 of its U.S. Defense Department-approved Advanced Combat Helmets.
The order for the helmets, a 2.2-pound ballistic fragmentation resistance solution for troops in combat zones, follows a recent delivery contract with the U.S. Army.
"NATO defined an ultra-lightweight helmet mainly for use by special forces and special command units … we believe our solution is the lightest Advanced Combat Helmet equivalent available on the market at present," Shachar Bernhard, ArmorSource marketing vice president.
