HAIFA, Israel, March 16 (UPI) -- The Australian Defense Ministry selected Elbit Systems to provide integration and installation services supporting network centric warfare initiatives.
Israeli battle management systems developer Elbit received the contract to provide the Australian army's Land 75/125 program Battle Group and Below Command, Control and Communications system support.
Under the $298 million deal, Elbit will provide the BGC3 system with supply, integration and installation services among other requirements as part of a larger effort by the Australian Defense Ministry to strengthen network centric warfare capabilities.
"The selection of our systems by the Australian army, considered among the world's most advanced and modern fighting forces, reflects the quality and maturity of our systems, resulting from the fact they are currently in operational use by more than 20 armed forces worldwide," Joseph Ackerman, Elbit president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
