MELBOURNE, Fla., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Raytheon has contracted Harris Corp. to join a team supporting a U.S. Army program designed to provide next-generation battlefield decision-making capabilities.
U.S. company Harris announced it was selected to support Raytheon's team working on the Army Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System. Raytheon selected Harris to provide its Highband Networking Radios.
Harris says its radio technologies will provide critical battle-command information for Raytheon's IBCS, which is designed to support troops with a command-and-control system for air and missile defense and strengthen decision-making capabilities.
"Designed from the ground up to support the networked battlefield, our Highband Networking Radio will provide the solid, yet mobile, communications backbone required to ensure critical information on the IBCS reaches the right location at the right time," Wes Covell, Harris Defense Programs president, said in a statement.
