
GROTON, Conn., Feb. 18 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy modified its contract with General Dynamics to continue testing a Common Missile Compartment for a replacement submarine program.
General Dynamics announced its Electric Boat business received the contract modification as part of the Navy program to replace its Ohio-class submarine. Under the $26.3 million deal, General Dynamics will continue its work on the submarine's Common Missile Compartment.
The contract, which also jointly supports the British navy's next-generation Successor submarine program, is for General Dynamics to continue its manufacturing and testing on the missile compartment along with necessary procurement requirements.
According to a news release, General Dynamics will conduct "engineering, technical services, concept studies and design of a Common Missile Compartment."
