
MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Alion Science and Technology was selected by the U.S. Navy to lead a team of contractors providing several ship classes with acquisition support.
U.S. company Alion announced it received a contract to support the Program Executive Office for Ships, Acquisition Management, or PEO Ships AM, Directorate with acquisition management services for several ship classes.
Under the $71.8 million task order, Alion will lead a team providing PEO Ships AM with support for the DDG 51, DDG-1000, Littoral Combat Ship and Cruiser and other ship classes with program, acquisition and configuration management among other requirements.
"Alion provides an experienced, well-integrated team solution to ensure PEO Ships AM delivers its products on time, on budget and without technical risks," Kevin Lees, Alion senior vice president and manager of the Acquisition Programs Management Group, said in a statement.
