MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has selected Science Applications International Corp. to develop CH-47 and UH-60 helicopter simulator training technologies.
U.S. company SAIC received the simulator development contract from the Army's Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation as part of the Non-rated Crew Member Manned Module, or NCM3, program.
Under the $12 million deal, SAIC says it will provide the Army PEO STRI with CH-47 Chinook and UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter integrated crew member simulator systems under an aircrew training initiative.
"While prototype crew member simulators have been available, the cost-effective development of full-production integrated simulators for helicopter crew members is a first, enabling non-rated crew members to train on critical, coordinated tasks like gunnery, sling load and hoist operations with pilots," Beverly Seay, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager, said in a statement.
