WILLIAMTOWN, Australia, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- The Royal Australian Air Force has awarded Boeing a follow-on contract to provide the F/A-18A/B Hornet aircraft platform with ongoing maintenance support.
U.S. company Boeing says its Defense Australia unit was awarded the contract from the Australian air force's Tactical Fighter Systems Program Office. Under the $1.5 million deal, Boeing will continue its six year service support for the F/A-18A/B fighter aircraft.
Boeing says as part of the contract it will provide the Australian air force with engineering and other maintenance services along with its ongoing support for the F/A-18A/B Hornet Upgrade Phase 2.3.
"This contract maintains our F/A-18 engineering capability as it increases our overall business on the platform," Brad Hume, Boeing Defense Australia F/A-18 program manager, said in a statement.
