
HAWTHORNE, Calif., Feb. 2 (UPI) -- The U.S. government has contracted OSI Systems Inc. for the company to deliver its cargo and vehicle threat detection screening technologies.
U.S. company OSI says its Rapiscan Systems unit was awarded the contract. Under the approximately $25 million deal, Rapiscan will deliver its threat detection technologies from the company's cargo and vehicle inspection portfolio.
Rapiscan says its cargo and vehicle inspection systems are widely deployed by defense authorities around the world for port screening, critical infrastructure protection and security checkpoints among other applications.
"This contract award is a reflection of our commitment to design products that can operate in challenging environments," Deepak Chopra, OSI Systems chief executive officer and chairman, said in a statement.
"We believe our focus on ease-of-deployment, reliability and unsurpassed threat detection makes our cargo and vehicle inspection solutions an excellent choice for the U.S. Government and for governments worldwide."
