Kuwait Patriot destroys target during test

TEWKSBURY, Mass., Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Raytheon announced its ballistic missile defense technologies successfully destroyed designated targets during recent testing by the Kuwaiti air defense forces.

U.S. company Raytheon was selected by Kuwaiti defense authorities to support a Kuwait air defense and land forces joint exercise providing its Patriot Air and Missile Defense System with a Kuwait Patriot Configuration-2 Plus.

Raytheon announced its Patriot ballistic missile defense technology destroyed five designated targets at the Udairi Range in Kuwait during the exercise successfully demonstrating the Patriot system.

"This test firing showcased the lethal capabilities of the combat-proven Patriot Air and Missile Defense System against tactical ballistic missiles, as well as the strong alliance among the Kuwait Air Defense Forces, the U.S. government and Raytheon in maintaining the readiness and effectiveness of Patriot in Kuwait," Skip Garrett, Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems vice president and deputy for Patriot Programs, said in a statement.
