L-3 orders EXACT systems for eXaminer

PEABODY, Mass., Jan. 8 (UPI) -- U.S. company L-3 Communications has contracted Analogic to deliver its Explosive Assessment Computed Tomography technologies to support explosives detection.

Analogic received the new order from L-3 Communications' Security and Detection Systems unit. L-3 ordered Analogic's EXACT systems for integration in to its eXaminer 3DX explosives detection technology.

The widely deployed eXaminer 3DX, developed by Analogic and L-3, is designed to provide security authorities at airports and other check-points three-dimensional images of bags and detect explosives and other illicit threats.

"This new order is indicative of the enduring value the eXaminer 3DX has in the marketplace and the role it plays in helping to protect the air traveling public," Peter Cempellin, Analogic Security Systems Division vice president and general manager, said in a statement.
