PHOENIX, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- U.S. company White Electronic Designs Corp. has been selected to support global positioning system platforms with its technologies for military programs.
White Electronic Designs, a developer of semiconductor, memory and circuit integration technologies for defense applications, announced it has been selected for multiple contracts to support military GPS platforms from undisclosed clients.
Company officials say the White Electronic Designs products will be integrated into a variety of military programs including radios guided munitions applications among other requirements.
"When used in radios, this system verifies the exact location of the warfighter and also permits communication via secure encryption," Dan Tarantine, White Electronic Designs executive vice president, said in a statement.
"When used in a precision guided munitions or missile, target location is set using GPS coordinates allowing the weapon to strike the target with very high accuracy."
