STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., Jan. 7 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Department has selected General Dynamics to help rebuild and repair tactical vehicles damaged in Iraq and Afghanistan.
U.S. company General Dynamics says its Land Systems unit was awarded contracts to provide 474 of its hull protection kits along with other spare parts to repair the Stryker family of vehicles damaged by roadside bombs and other threats in the Iraq and Afghan combat theaters.
According to a news release, an $84 million contract includes "battle-damage assessment, repair services and materials for Stryker brigades."
General Dynamics was awarded $28 million for the hull protection kits.
