
STRATFORD, Conn., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Sikorsky Military Systems and partner Elbit Systems announced the successful completion of a demonstrator program for a next-generation helicopter in Israel.
U.S. company Sikorsky says its Armed Black Hawk demonstrator flight test program, developed in cooperation with Israel-based Elbit, has been completed following a successfully cockpit tutorial and live-fire test.
The Armed Black Hawk program, established for an evaluation by the Israeli air force, marked a milestone for Sikorsky and Elbit and demonstrated the Battlehawk helicopter proof of concept.
"The successful conclusion of the demonstrator program signifies a major milestone for the Armed Black Hawk helicopter program," David Powell, Sikorsky Worldwide Sales vice president, said in a statement.
"Sikorsky Aircraft has invested significant resources into this program in cooperation with the Israeli air force to prove the concept of these weapons, and we are pleased to announce that the technologies have been affirmed through our efforts."
