MCLEAN, Va., Dec. 29 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force has contracted Science Applications International Corp. to support strategic bomber force operations with assessment and planning support.
U.S. company SAIC was awarded the contract from the Air Force Global Strike Command, the military command expected to take responsibility for intercontinental ballistic missile and strategic bomber forces.
Under the $10 million deal, SAIC will provide the Global Strike Command with planning and programming support among other requirements at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana.
"We look forward to utilizing our expertise in nuclear operations and organizational efficiency to help standup a critical command for the Air Force, and assisting as it assumes its full complement of missions -- developing and providing combat-ready forces for nuclear deterrence and global strike operations," Beverly Seay, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager, said in a statement.
