SANTA ANA, Calif., Dec. 24 (UPI) -- The U.S. Homeland Security Department has selected Universal Protection Service as a company approved for Safety Act protection.
California-based security guard company Universal Protection Service announced it has received Safety Act approval, which designates the company a certified provider of emergency preparedness and response services.
With the Safety Act approval, Universal Protection Service is protected from some liability to third parties as part of the Homeland Security Act passed in 2002.
"We are very excited that our application for the Safety Act designation has been approved," Steve Jones, Universal Services of America co-chief executive officer and chief operating officer, said in a statement.
"We feel that the extensive review that the Department of Homeland Security conducted on our company validates the programs that we have in place, and ensures that our customers receive the highest level of liability protection available."
