MONROVIA, Calif., Dec. 22 (UPI) -- AeroVironment Inc. has received a contract to provide the U.S. military's deployed Raven unmanned aircraft systems with next-generation digital technologies.
U.S. company AV was awarded a modified deal under an existing contract with the U.S. Defense Department to support the Army and Marine Corps' Raven UAS with digital upgrades.
Under the approximately $23.9 million contract, AV will provide its currently deployed analog-based Ravens with digital data link technologies to enable the use of an increased number of aircraft operating in the same location.
"We began deliveries of digital Raven systems at the end of October, and are increasing production in response to customer demand," John Grabowsky, AV executive vice president and Unmanned Aircraft Systems general manager, said in a statement.
