
FAIRFAX, Va., Dec. 8 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has contracted General Dynamics to provide engineering and technical support to ensure vessels are operationally ready.
U.S. company General Dynamics says its Information Technology unit was awarded the contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division located in Philadelphia.
Under the $18.6 million deal awarded as part of the Navy's SeaPort-enhanced contract vehicle, General Dynamics will provide machinery control, information and automation systems engineering and technical support among other quality assurance services.
"General Dynamics will continue to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center with a proven management team that has the focused technical background needed to operate in a multi-task, fast-paced environment," Bill Cobb, General Dynamics Information Technology Combat Systems sector vice president and general manager, said in a statement.
"We will provide our expertise in the maintenance and support of sea-based vessels to assist Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division in ensuring that its vessels and systems are operational and ready to complete their missions."
