ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin says its simulation system for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention successfully replicated an emergency response scenario.
U.S. company Lockheed Martin says its SIMAN, or Stockpile in Motion Across the Nation, simulation training technology successfully replicated the distribution capabilities of the CDC's Division of Strategic National Stockpile.
Lockheed Martin says its SIMAN program, designed from military training programs, is part of an effort to provide the CDC with emergency disaster simulation data that demonstrates the Strategic National Stockpile's distribution system. Officials say a real exercise of the distribution system is cost prohibitive.
The successful demonstration of the SIMAN program marks a milestone for Lockheed Martin.
"The objective of the exercise was to ensure that the SIMAN simulation could accurately simulate the Division of Strategic National Stockpile processes for delivery of millions of doses of drugs and other medical material within 24 hours of the incident and that the simulation accurately replicated the operational environment," Dale Bennett, Lockheed Martin Simulation, Training and Support president, said in a statement.
