DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Saudi Arabia has contracted Raytheon to deliver its surveillance technologies to support air traffic management and safety.
U.S. company Raytheon received the contract from the Saudi Arabia General Authority of Civil Aviation. Under the award, Raytheon will deliver its air traffic management technologies to support air traffic control surveillance across the nation.
Officials say the contract, which is part of an effort to strengthen flight safety in Saudi Arabia, also includes establishing a regional maintenance facility to support ongoing surveillance and air security initiatives.
"Raytheon has been an essential partner on this very important project, and we look forward to establishing a long and enduring relationship," Mohammed Ahmed Al-Salmi, GACA vice president of Air Navigation Services, said in a statement.
