EAST HARTFORD, Conn., Nov. 23 (UPI) -- The South Korean air force has received delivery of its first Pratt & Whitney-developed F-15 engine-enhancement technology packages.
Connecticut-based Pratt & Whitney announced the successful delivery of its F100-229 Engine Enhancement Package engine to South Korea. Pratt & Whitney says its F100-229 EEP engine is designed to strengthen the dependability of the F-15 fighter aircraft.
Officials say the F100-229 EEP engine delivery the marks first engine build kits delivered to the South Korean air force as part of a next-generation engine program.
"We are honored that the South Korean air force has selected the Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-229 EEP engine to power their fighter fleet," Bill Begert, Pratt & Whitney vice president of business development, said in a statement.
"With the F100-PW-229 EEP engine, we have listened to the needs of the customer and are delivering to them a high quality, dependable engine that is safer, more durable and costs significantly less to operate and maintain."
