TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Tampa Microwave has been selected to provide a U.S. Defense Department communication program with X and Ku band satellite terminal technologies.

Tampa Microwave received a contract from Pacific Star Communications Inc. to deliver its TM-FA150 system the Defense Department's Defense Information Systems Network services.

The Tampa Microwave technology will provide X and Ku band ruggedized and deployable Very Small Aperture Terminals to support mission critical communications requirements.

"The portability of this system, combined with its substantial transmitted solid state power, makes it a valuable resource for quick reaction and early entry teams deploying to areas not served by traditional communications infrastructure," Obie Johnson, Tampa Microwave vice president of advanced development, said in a statement.
