BATON ROUGE, La., Nov. 17 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Department has contracted Shaw Group Inc. to compete for construction task orders at naval facilities in six states.

U.S. company Shaw announced it was selected by the Defense Department for a multiple award indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract. Under the IDIQ, awarded to eight contractors, Shaw will complete for task orders to support outdoor shooting and combat training ranges among other facilities with construction services.

Officials say the installations to receive the construction support are part of the Naval Facilities Engineering Command located in six states.

"Sustainable and adaptable Naval Facilities Engineering Command facilities are critical for Navy and Marine Corps combat readiness," George Bevan, Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure Group president, said in a statement.

"Our core capabilities in construction and expertise in the environmental and infrastructure fields make Shaw the sound choice to strengthen and maintain Department of Defense facilities."
