PROVIDENCE, R.I., Nov. 17 (UPI) -- U.S. defense contractor Textron Inc. announced the appointment of a new president and chief executive officer of its Textron Systems unit.
Scott Donnelly, Textron president and chief operating officer, announced Monday Fred Strader has been selected to head up the company's Textron Systems segment, a unit developing unmanned aircraft systems, armored vehicles and intelligent battlefield solutions.
Strader will take over for Frank Tempesta as head of Textron Systems.
"Fred is a long standing defense executive who has a track record of leading organizations to new levels of growth by developing ground-breaking programs -- the success of the Shadow (unmanned aircraft system) in recent years is one example," Donnelly said in a statement.
