DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Raytheon has received a contract to provide Kuwait with upgrades to its Patriot Configuration-3 system to ensure ongoing operational capabilities.
U.S. company Raytheon says its Integrated Defense Systems unit was awarded the deal from the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command at the Redstone Arsenal in Alabama as part of a Foreign Military Sales contract.
Under the $20.5 million award, Raytheon will provide Kuwait's Patriot Configuration-3 system upgrades including improved remote launch capabilities among other enhancements.
"By upgrading to Configuration-3, Kuwait will have the latest Patriot technology to ensure mission readiness," Sanjay Kapoor, Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems vice president for patriot programs, said in a statement.
"These enhancements bring a robust and proven capability to Kuwait's air and missile defense units and their ability to counter current and evolving threats."
